The Minpraxis Tester

Unlock More From Every Core

The Minpraxis Tester (MPT) is a patented compression-breakage testing device that generates high-resolution geotechnical, geometallurgical and density data from drill core and lump samples.

Continuous Testing

By testing continuously as samples are processed, the MPT captures changes in strength and hardness that conventional testing can miss, such as those linked to lithology, alteration, veining and defects.

Inside Assay Preparation

It works inside the assay preparation process, on half-core samples, with no additional sample preparation and no cross-contamination between samples.

How It Works

One pass through the machine. The half-core goes into the core feeder, is tested between two rolls, and leaves on a conveyor into a sample bag.

Feed

The half-core goes into the core feeder.

An integrated core sizer measures the geometry of each piece automatically as it is fed, so density can be calculated for every half-core piece from its measured volume and mass.

Test

The half-core passes lengthwise between two rolls.

The rolls compress the rock while high-resolution sensors measure the force required to break it.

Measurements are captured continuously along the core, recording changes in strength and hardness as the sample moves through the machine.

Collect

The crushed sample is carried on a conveyor into a sample bag.

It then continues through the conventional assay preparation process.

Results

The MPT generates high-resolution geotechnical, geometallurgical and density data that can be delivered alongside existing assay information, giving a more detailed picture of the rock and how its properties change along the core.
